What is "Omega Boost" – an omega supplement made from salmon oil?
"Omega Boost" is a "Yamamoto® Research" dietary supplement based on "OmeGo®" – an innovative Norwegian salmon oil that naturally contains all Omega series fatty acids (3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 11) and astaxanthin: optimal support for your daily nutritional balance.
Among fatty acids, the well-known positive effects of omega-3 fish oils, which contain only EPA and DHA, are recognized. However, the omega series includes many other fatty acids that help maintain well-being. The salmon oil in "Omega Boost" is the only oil that contains the full spectrum of natural anti-inflammatory fatty acids (NAFA):
  • Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA)
  • Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)
  • Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)
  • Alpha-linolenic acid
  • Octadecatrienoic acid
  • Myristoleic acid
  • Myristic acid
  • Palmitoleic acid
  • Oleic acid
  • Gadoleic acid
  • Pentadecanoic acid
  • Linoleic acid
  • Arachidic acid
  • Margaric acid
  • Stearic acid.
As shown in the picture, "Omega Boost" contains more than 84% natural anti-inflammatory fatty acids (NAFA), and the total omega content exceeds 78%, including both PNAFA fatty acids, PNAFA = polyunsaturated fatty acids, including omega-3 and 6 (>28%), and PNAFA, PNAFA = monounsaturated fatty acids (>56%), including omega-5, 7, 9, and 11.
Fatty acids are essential molecules for our body as they perform several vital functions, including energy supply, cell membrane structure formation, and support of various physiological functions. Among fatty acids, essential ones are also precursors of mediators called eicosanoids, which regulate physiological processes such as inflammation, immune response, cognitive function, blood clotting, and lipid metabolism. Therefore, it is important to include various types of fatty acids in your diet to ensure proper body function and avoid deficiencies. The recommended daily intake of essential fats is about 4–5% of daily calorie intake, which should be included in the lipid component, which in a balanced diet usually corresponds to 25–30%.
During production, "OmeGo®" salmon oils used in "Omega Boost" are extracted in less than 1 hour at a controlled temperature that never exceeds 60 °C to best preserve molecular integrity. This rapid production method isolates fish oils, eliminating the need for further heavy metal processing and ensuring the absence of oxidation. Due to reduced oxidation, salmon oils have an excellent shelf life, which is longer than other fish oils that require the addition of vitamin E or tocopherols for long-term preservation. The peroxide and anisidine values of "Omega Boost" (two important indicators used to assess the quality and oxidation level of fats and oils, especially edible ones) change little over time because salmon oils are naturally stable.
As shown in the picture, the "OmeGo®" fat ratio matches the natural fat ratio of the whole salmon, and it also contains natural triglycerides (which are biologically more available than processed ethyl esters), compensating for the lower omega-3 fatty acid content (1).
Generally, natural marine oils have significantly higher bioavailability than processed oils: a clinical study with healthy subjects showed that just a 1 g/day dose of "OmeGo®" resulted in clinically significant changes in cholesterol levels (1). The limited bioavailability of fish oils in ethyl ester (EE) form indicates that natural marine oils are more likely to replicate the positive health effects of consuming fresh, healthy fish.
This chart shows the effects of "OmeGo®", sunflower oil (control group), standard fish oil (18/12 oil), and algae oil rich in DHA (cold-pressed), all at a dose of 1 g per day, on 28 people.
Oxidized low-density lipoprotein (oxLDL) is an inflammatory form of "bad cholesterol" that can accelerate atherosclerosis ("hardening of the arteries").
In this study, "OmeGo®" was the only oil that statistically significantly reduced the amount of oxidized low-density lipoproteins (2, 3).
"Omega Boost" is also rich in a natural ingredient traditionally recognized as an antioxidant: astaxanthin (4). Astaxanthin is a carotenoid – a natural red-orange pigment found in some algae and giving characteristic color to fish like salmon and crustaceans like krill. Astaxanthin is mainly produced by the algae Haematococcus pluvialis, and then transferred up the food chain through crustaceans and fish that feed on them, such as salmon (4).
Therefore, "Omega Boost" is an innovative dietary supplement in the field of fatty acids: it contains patented Norwegian salmon oil "OmeGo®", which naturally provides all Omega series fatty acids (3, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 11) and astaxanthin.
