Yamamoto® Research Lattasi
Improves lactose digestion*
Lattasi is a dietary supplement containing the enzyme lactase with fennel extract, suitable for lactose digestion difficulties. The enzyme lactase improves lactose digestion in individuals who have difficulty digesting lactose* (to be taken with every lactose-containing food).
You often hear the phrase "I can't digest milk and dairy products," and after drinking a cappuccino, "unpleasant" trips to the toilet often occur. It is estimated that in Italy alone, 50% of the population is lactose intolerant, although symptoms do not manifest equally strongly in everyone. According to surveys, only 1 in 4 people know they are lactose intolerant. Lactose intolerance occurs partially or completely due to the absence of the enzyme lactase, which can break down lactose into two simple sugars - glucose and galactose. Lactose is the main sugar in milk (including cow, goat, buffalo, donkey, and mother's milk), constituting 98% of the sugars in milk, and in its derivatives - varying percentages. Lactose is also often used as an additive in various food products, such as certain cured meat products or baked goods.
The clinical picture of lactose intolerance is characterized by distressing abdominal pain resembling spasms, bloating, a feeling of heaviness, stomach swelling, easily triggered diarrhea or constipation, which occur quite quickly after consuming foods containing lactose. In addition to these symptoms, more general symptoms may appear, such as headache, fatigue, nausea, or rash. Symptoms vary among individuals, presenting with different intensity and significance. Lactose intolerance, as mentioned, is caused by insufficient lactase in the small intestine, so the intestine cannot absorb lactose or break it down into simple and easily absorbable components - glucose and galactose.
Physiologically, ingested lactose is acted upon in the small intestine by lactase, which breaks it down until all lactose is split into glucose and galactose - molecules that are digestible and therefore absorbed by the body. If there is not enough lactase in our intestines to perform this task, as happens to those who are lactose intolerant, undigested lactose reaches the final part of the digestive tract - the colon, where bacteria intervene to ferment lactose in the intestine. During this process, waste products are formed - gases (hydrogen and methane) and toxins, which cause the irritating symptoms of lactose intolerance, such as alcohol molecules, aldehydes, acetones, short-chain fatty acids, and methylglyoxal. If these molecules are absorbed, they cause irritating digestive tract symptoms, especially constipation, but often diarrhea and typical "gurgling" in the stomach with pains similar to colic or cramps. These are particularly distressing and sometimes limiting phenomena. However, there are many effective specific lactase-based dietary supplements that help solve this annoying problem! One of them is "Lactase Yamamoto Research," which contains a high concentration of lactase, ensuring lactose digestion in the intestine in a short time, thus avoiding the risk of causing an unpleasant wave of intolerance symptoms.
Due to the high enzyme content (15,000 FCC units), with just 1 capsule containing 150 mg of lactase, or 15,000 FCC units of lactase, the capsule should be taken about 30 minutes before a meal, depending on the amount of lactose present (there is a special nutrition table).
One lactase capsule can digest about 5 g of lactose, which corresponds, for example, to 100 ml of milk. Using regular doses ensures more effective delivery of lactase to the intestine, allowing you to eat pizza or ice cream without risking unpleasant pain or diarrhea later.
The updated product ingredients include 120 mg of fennel. Due to its effect on intestinal gas control, fennel interacts with lactase, supporting a healthy intestine.
Package contains: 30 capsules
Serving size: 2 capsules
FCC ALU (Food Chemicals Codex) – a unit used to assess lactase activity, indicating how effectively the enzyme breaks down lactose.
Capsule: Coating agent (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), gelling agent (gellan gum), colorant (titanium dioxide)
Filler: Microcrystalline cellulose
Fennel dry extract (Foeniculum vulgare Mill., fruits)
Binding agents: Magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide
Usage recommendations
Lactase supplements help break down lactose, making them beneficial for individuals whose bodies do not digest lactose. Fennel extract additionally supports digestion and reduces bloating.
Usage: Take 1-2 capsules daily, 30 minutes before a meal containing lactose. Lactose tolerance may vary, so it is recommended to consult a doctor for advice on the role of this substance in the diet.
